Pictures and specifications for the Sony Xperia Nyphon (which is likely to be just a code name) were leaked by a Chinese website back in December. It was shaping up to be a very slim and very powerful device.
Indeed, the Nyphon is all set to join the Sony Xperia S as one of the first dual-core devices in the Xperia range. Add to that an 8-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage and you have yourself a very capable smartphone.
One area that wasn’t touched by this initial leak, though, was the screen. That’s been addressed by this fresh leak. According to the same Chinese source (via PhoneArena), the Nyphon will come with a 4-inch qHD (960 x 540) WhiteMagic display.

It’s a kind of WhiteMagic
What’s WhiteMagic, then? It’s a new dual-mode screen tech from Sony that can either cut power consumption by 50 per cent or offer up to twice the brightness in its “outdoor” mode. We’re talking 1000 nits here, which is considerably more even than LG’s NOVA technology.
WhiteMagic screens essentially add a W (for White) pixel to the standard RGB (Red-Green-Blue) pixel set-up. You can read more about it over on the original Sony press release for the technology.
