Five best games between the Eagles and Falcons
.can_ad_slug {font-family:arial;font-size:11px;color:#999;text-decoration:none;backgroun d-image:url('http://l.yimg.com/d/lib/can_interstitial/icons/adchoice_1.4.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;background-position:right;padding:0px 15px 0px 1px;margin:1px 0px 1px 1px;cursor:hand;height:12px;display:block;line-height:12px;} .ad_slug_table a {text-decoration:none;} .ad_slug_table div.CAN_marker { display:none } AdChoices &nb sp; No stage was ever bigger for an Eagles and Falcons game than the NFC Championship Game. The Eagles were playing in their fourth straight conference title game and this would be the day they finally broke through. It wasnt a spectacular offensive showing but the Eagles got what they needed. Tight end Chad Lewis caught two touchdown passes before getting injured while the Eagles shut down Michael Vick(notes) and the Atlanta offense to reach the Super Bowl.January 11, 2003 - Eagles 20, Falcons 6Michael Vick and the Falcons were fresh off of a stunning win against the Green Bay Packers and had some momentum for this divisional playoff game at Veterans Stadium. The Eagles set the tone early with Bobby Taylors interception return for a touchdown. The defense dominated the day in what turned out be the last Eagles win ever at Veterans Stadium.December 7, 1980 - Falcons 20, Eagles 17The Eagles were 11-2 and the Falcons were 10-3 heading into this game. Ron Jaworski and the Eagles took a 14-3 lead and looked in control but Atlanta battled back. The Falcons eventually took the lead but the game was tied at 17 when Falcons kicker Tim Mazzetti drilled a 37 yard field goal to stun the Eagles. Philadelphia would recover and reach the Super Bowl.October 1, 2000 - Eagles 38, Falcons 10This was a coming out party for Donovan McNabb(notes). In his first year as the starter, McNabb had a great season and this one of his best games. He threw for 311 yards as the Eagles erupted for 32 points in the second half. Brian Mitchell was also a star. He had an 85 yard run and an 89 yard kick return for touchdowns.November 18, 1990 - Eagles 24, Falcons 23The Eagles visited Atlanta with a 5-4 record while the Falcons were 3-6. This was one of the most competitive games of the series between the teams. The Eagles offense didnt pile up a lot of yards but they did get three touchdown passes from Randall Cunningham. Trailing 23-21 late in the game, Roger Ruzek hit a 46 yard field goal to give the Eagles the 24-23 win.Note: This article was written by a Yahoo! contributor. &nb sp; Bradford good to go for Monday night game
.can_ad_slug {font-family:arial;font-size:11px;color:#999;text-decoration:none;backgroun d-image:url('http://l.yimg.com/d/lib/can_interstitial/icons/adchoice_1.4.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;background-position:right;padding:0px 15px 0px 1px;margin:1px 0px 1px 1px;cursor:hand;height:12px;display:block;line-height:12px;} .ad_slug_table a {text-decoration:none;} .ad_slug_table div.CAN_marker { display:none } AdChoices &nb sp; Bradford said although there was some soreness, the finger felt 10 timesbetter than it did on Monday, the day after the Rams opening 31-13 loss tothe Philadelphia Eagles. The original plan didnt call for him to do anythrowing before Thursday and Bradford hadnt been that optimistic.I wouldnt have come out of the game if it wasnt serious, Bradfordsaid. I couldnt feel it, I couldnt move it, I really was concerned. Now hes hopeful his right hand will be 100 percent by Monday night when theRams play at the New York Giants. For anyone watching or on the receiving end,its already close enough.I couldnt tell a bit, wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker(notes) said. He lookedgreat to me.Trainer Reggie Scott said electrodes flow through the glove, which isdampened in water to promote connectivity, and then connected to an electricalstimulation unit. Bradford has been wearing the glove, in 20-minute sessions, atRams Park and at home. Its a neat little gadget, Scott said. Its helped out wonderfully.Hes been living in it.Scott said the device helped running back Steven Jackson recover from adislocated finger last season. As a rookie, Bradford was among three quarterbacks who took every snap.Backup A.J. Feeley(notes) was needed for the first time in two seasons in the fourthquarter after Bradford was hurt when he struck the upraised hands of a defenderafter a pass.Hes kind of over the hump with some things, it looks like hes going tobe OK, coach Steve Spagnuolo said. I think it would be the understatement ofthe year to say its a relief. There are plenty of other concerns, though.Cornerback Ron Bartell(notes) was placed on injured reserve with two fractures inhis neck, further thinning a position with little depth entering the season.Bartell was a second-round pick in 2005 and is the second-longest tenured Ram,and hopes to return next season. Its unfortunate for Ron, middle linebacker James Laurinaitis(notes) said.Hes one of the leaders on our defense, and our team.Jackson, who strained his right leg early in the opening loss to the Eagles, has not been counted out for Monday nights game at the New York Giants. Jacksonwas among a large group of players getting treatment during a workout thatlasted just over an hour.Stevens about the same, Spagnuolo said. Well see where we are at theend of the week.Wide receiver Danny Amendola(notes) wore a brace on his left elbow afterdislocating the elbow Sunday and could be out several weeks, although Spagnuolosaid he didnt believe surgery would be needed. Backup defensive end C.J. Ah You(notes)will undergo wrist surgery. All of the injuries prompted a flurry of moves. Safety Tim Atchison(notes) waselevated from the practice squad to the roster and running back Quinn Porter(notes),recently released by the Cleveland Browns, was signed.Center Drew Miller(notes) was released, safety Jonathan Nelson(notes) was released fromthe practice squad, and quarterback Tom Brandstater(notes) and offensive tackle TimBarnes(notes) were signed to the practice squad. Brandstater also might get some workat wide receiver with the scout team. &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp; Updated 1 hour, 15 minutes ago

&nb sp; Belichick sees problems in opening 38-24 win
UpdatedSep 13, 2011 9:00 PM ETFOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP)The most productive offensive game in the New England Patriots'52-year history drew the same old analysis from coach BillBelichick. Some good, some bad.Belichick found some room for improvement after Tom Brady threwfor a career-best 517 yards and the offense piled up afranchise-record 622 in Monday night's 38-24 season-opening winover the Miami Dolphins.''We had the ball on the 1-yard line ready to score a touchdownand we end up getting knocked out of field goal range and couldn'tget a field goal before the half,'' Belichick said Tuesday. He didn't like the ending of the game either.''We really weren't able to close out the game at the end of thegame with a couple of first downs that we could have made,'' hesaid. ''The good thing was, offensively, whenever Miami scored orstarted to change the momentum of the game a little bit, ouroffense was able to come back and drive the ball and score pointsand change that momentum around, so that was great.''With Brady operating out of the no-huddle for much of the game, the Dolphins couldn't always make the substitutions they wanted orset up their defense the way they would have liked.''It's great that we could take advantage of it, but thoseopportunities won't always be there,'' Belichick said. ''I'm sureas teams get more experienced with their communication and getfurther into the season, you'll see less and less of that.''We're just trying to keep ironing out all the little detailsand that's really across the board. It's offense, defense, specialteams. There are always things on every play, even good plays, thata lot of times aren't done quite properly and had the (opposing)defense or the offense been in (a) different play or done things alittle bit differently, then we would have had a problem.''The Dolphins, though, didn't cause enough problems for thePatriots.Brady threw four touchdown passes. Two went to Wes Welker, including a 99-yarder in which he ran most of the way. Tight endsRob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez scored the other two.But Brady knows a hurry-up offense can cause problems for theteam using it.''It's a fine line between putting pressure on a defense andplaying out of control,'' he said. ''I thought at times we did bothand you never really want to play out of control on offense. It wasa good pace at times, but other times they adjusted to it. We'vealso got to find ways to execute better.''Perhaps the costliest play on offense for the Patriots came whencenter Dan Koppen hurt his left ankle when Brady sneaked ahead fora first down late in the first half. He was driven off the field ona cart and Dan Connolly replaced him for the rest of the game.Koppen, who returned to the Patriots sideline in the second halfon crutches, is expected to miss a substantial amount of time.''Dan's a guy that obviously has played a lot of football for usat a very important position. So, that's not something that's aneasy thing to adjust to,'' offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien said.''I'm very confident in Dan (Connolly) and what he's going to beable to do for us.''Belichick gave no update on Koppen's injury. But the team ischecking available offensive linemen not on the active roster.''We evaluate our roster and all our options every week, especially early in the season when there are more optionsavailable,'' Belichick said. ''With each succeeding week, optionsstart to diminish. The players that are available, that numberdecreases, and so forth. Every week, we're looking at the playerson our practice squad, we're looking at other players.''The Patriots play their home opener Sunday against the San DiegoChargers, who beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-17 on Sunday aftertrailing 17-7 at halftime. Perhaps more important, though? SanDiego's defense seems stronger than Miami's.''They're an aggressive defense,'' O'Brien said. ''They've got alot of good players at every position.''And less than 24 hours after the Patriots' record-settingperformance, he was eager to leave it behind.''I just am thinking about San Diego and, really, whateverhappened (Monday) night, I'm telling you, it really doesn't matteras it relates to San Diego,'' O'Brien said. ''Every week in thisleague is a different week and, hopefully, this will be the lasttime that I'm talking about Miami until the next time we playMiami.''And with a short week of practice between the Monday night andSunday games, Belichick already is working on fixing the problemshe encountered.''It was our first regular-season game and ... it was nice tocome out of it with a win, but we know (each) week it's going toget tougher, especially with the Chargers this week,'' Belichicksaid. ''They're a real good football team.''O'Brien concurred.''There are a lot of things to improve on, a lot of littlethings,'' he said. ''It's a detail-oriented game and, again, thisis the week to really try to improve it because this is a heck of adefense that we're going against on Sunday against San Diego.''

&nb sp; McGee facing significant down time with injury
UpdatedSep 14, 2011 12:29 AM ETThe Buffalo Bills' depth in the defensivebackfield will be put to the test starting Sunday againstOakland.Cornerback Terrence McGee's hamstring injury is "not good,"according to coach Chan Gailey, and will keep him out of the lineupfor at least a few weeks. That means Drayton Florence and Leodis McKelvin are thestarters, and rookie second-round draft pick Aaron Williams willsee a lot more time on the field when the Bills go to their nickel or dimepackages.Williams got a passing grade from coach Chan Gailey after hisfirst game."He did OK. The problem with that, with his situation in thegame, was he didn't get many reps during the week," Gailey said."He made a mistake I think on all of the first three plays he wasin there. Then he settled down and played a lot better as the gamewent on. He'll be just fine. I think he's going to be a good playerfor us."Behind McKelvin, Florence and Williams on the depth chart isrookie seventh-round draft pick Justin Rogers. He was inactiveSunday.Gailey said the team will do its due diligence this week inlooking for veteran help at the position. The injury continued a troubling past few seasons for McGee,who's started just 13 games over the past two seasons because of aknee injury and surgery to correct a nerve problem.***Gailey saw no problem with the cut block Bills receiver Stevie Johnson put onChiefs safety Eric Berry in the first quarter of Sunday's game.Berry, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie last season, tore the ACLin his left knee and is out for the year."We tell our guys, 'Hey, you go block those guys because let metell you, if you're up in the air, they're not going to hesitate togo get you and to take a shot at you,' " Gailey said. "That's anopportunity for our receivers to go down the field and hit thoseguys. It's legal."Johnson also vehemently defended himself on Twitter when aChiefs fan called the play a cheap shot."Man shutup u clown," Johnson wrote in response. "ILL NEVERCHEAPSHOT A PLAYER ON THE FIELD! IDC (I don't care) if he my EnemyU Square! Last I checked a cut block was legal!"***The injury news was better for linebacker Shawne Merriman. Hesaid other than the usual soreness that comes after a game, hisshoulder was fine and he does not anticipate missing anypractice."I feel pretty good coming out of a game after not playing forso long. I'll be back to practice on Wednesday," he said. "I know abunch of people were concerned about it. I'm not. Guys in thislocker room aren't concerned. So I'll be good."Gailey said linebacker Robert Eddins, who made the team as anundrafted free agent, suffered an unspecified injury against theChiefs.Gailey also provided an update on second-year receiver MarcusEasley, who missed Sunday's game with an undisclosed illness.Easley has already been ruled out of the home opener Sunday againstOakland."It's gotten a little more prolonged than we thought," Gaileysaid. "We're going to have to get more evaluation on him and seeexactly where that's going to go. He won't be ready this week forsure. I know what it is, but I don't think I ought to say. I thinkhe ought to say if anybody does."e-mail: jskurski@buffnews.com

&nb sp; IN THE WEEKS AFTER THE TRAGEDY OF 9/11, SPORTS PROVED TO HAVE A REMARKABLE HEALING POWER. IT WAS
UpdatedSep 14, 2011 12:32 AM ETIT RAINED that Monday night, in sheets, in buckets, in torrents.Roger Clemens was supposed to go for his 20th win of the seasonthat evening, against his old friends from Boston, but the skyopened up and the clouds parted and Yankee Stadium looked like anovergrown rice paddy before long.In September 2011, they would have waited until closing time toplay the game. But on Sept. 10, 2001, it wasn't considered a venial sin to banga game, even if that game might never be made up. Even aYankees-Red Sox game. See, it isn't just fuzzy memory that hintsthat the world was a quainter place in the years, months, weeks, days and hours ... before. In many ways - in almost every way - it was.It just was.I was driving home from the Stadium that night, and on the radiothe Giants were opening the defense of their NFC Championship inDenver, an adventure that would not go well, Brian Griese throwingfor 330 yards, Terrell Davis rushing for 101. The Jets had gotten stomped a dayearlier by the Colts, 45-24, in Herman Edwards' debut. The Mets were lousy. The Knicks were on the decline. The Yankeeswere getting old. It was shaping up to be a long stretch offorgettable road. And then ... And then.***WE ALL have our stories of That Morning. Some are heartbreaking. Some are beyond heartbreaking. Hours later, late in the night,Rudolph Giuliani would describe the losses as "more than any of uscan bear," even before we knew numbers, and figures, and facts, andcasualties. Those of us who bore those losses merely through thenewspapers and the television can't know what it was like to havedone so more directly. But we have stories too. Most begin the way this one does:"Turn on the TV!"My wife. Standing in a ferry boat on the Jersey side, staring atthe first plumes of smoke. Around her, dozens of brokers andlawyers and laborers and financial planners were impatientlymuttering to themselves, and to the men who ran the ferry: "Let'sgo, let's go, let's go! We're going to be late."My wife asked, "Is the TV on yet? What do you see?"We know what we saw that morning, all of us. It's odd; everyyear on the anniversary, there will be channels that choose to runthe news programming of that morning in its entirety - "as ithappened!" they exclaim - and it's never necessary. The newsreel ofthat morning is seared into memory. All of it."Get home," I told my wife. "Hurry."As we watched the world change, all of us, across the next fewdays, it was impossible not to wonder how our worlds would bealtered. The mayor urged us to take back our lives. Slowly, radiostations who had forfeited music for therapeutic talk startedplaying Destiny's Child and Nelly again. Saturday Night Live cameback with good intentions; Lorne Michaels asked Giuliani, in thefirst skit back, if it was OK to be funny again."Why start now?" the mayor famously replied.Still, movie houses were empty. Restaurants were quiet. Saloontalk was mostly filled with angry oaths of retribution. As a sportsfan, and a sports writer, I wondered, as so many of us did, aboutthe worthiness of the games. The first answers were blunt. Thefirst weekend after, I went to six different driving ranges; I sawfour golfers, total. My wife and I went to hit tennis balls at atown court that was always overrun; we were the only onesthere. The other games had vanished entirely: no NFL, no MLB. BarryBonds was chasing Mark McGwire. The Seattle Mariners were chasingthe '06 Cubs. Michael Jordan was coming back to the NBA. Sports insuspended animation: We wondered if we could ever care again, theway we had Before. Would they matter again? Could they?Little did we know.***THIS isn't about the individual bits of selflessness that soonfollowed, among so many of the athletes who called New York home 10years ago. Make no mistake: These were necessary parts of thehealing. The Mets, managed by a Connecticut native (Bobby Valentine),co-owned by a son of Brooklyn (Fred Wilpon) and led by two localboys, John Franco and Al Leiter, stepped up immediately andrelentlessly. The Yankees visited firehouses; Bernie Williams, unsure what to say to the grieving Bravest and their families, worldlessly handed out hugs. Vinny Testaverde, whose laborer fatherhad helped build the World Trade Center, was everywhere; KerryCollins adopted Ladder 5, a Greenwich Village firehouse. These were wonderful gestures. But they are noted, andremembered, mostly because they were famous people doing the simpleacts of kindness that were so common throughout New York in thosedays and weeks after Sept. 11. On every block, in every town, therewere similar stories: meals being delivered, wounds being bound, young people wa l k i n g into army recruiting stations or seekinginformation about the Pe a ce Corps. The athletes were part of alarger picture, a tale of shared giving and shared grieving thecountry hadn't seen since V-J Day.What they did in giving of themselves was special, but it wasn'tunique. What they did in the weeks and months and years after, withtheir supreme gifts, absolutely was. Many believe sports began to weave their way into our lives onSept. 21, the night Liza high-kicked her way through the seventhinning stretch and Mike Piazza hit the most famous and mostmeaningful of his 427 lifetime home runs. I always have believedthat merely was the start; more important was what happened twodays later. I was sitting in the press box at Kansas City'sArrowhead Stadium, watching the end of the Giants' inspiring 13-3win over the Chiefs in which 80,000 Midwesterners couldn'tstopcheering for the visitors from New York City.My very primitive (and absurdly large) cell phone rang. It was afriend of mine, a huge Mets fan, calling from Shea, and he wasjubilant. I figured they had won again, taken a small step forwardin what was becoming a neat little comeback story."Dude, they're booing the crap out of Armando Benitez. And it'sbeautiful." It was true. Benitez had blown a threerun lead in theninth, and 41,168 Mets fans had decided that enough time hadpassed. It was OK to care enough to boo again. It was beautiful.***IT HELPED that we got that f o r e v e r Yankees playoff run inthe weeks ahead, that we got George W. Bush's firstpitch strike andthose back-toback games in the World Series saved by Tino Martinezand Scott Brosius. It helped that, despite the Diamondbacksprevailing, that World Series would take its place among thegreatest ever played. It helped that on the Sunday before Christmas that year, separated by a thousand miles, Collins and Testaverde each wouldlead fourth-quarter touchdown drives against the Seahawks in EastRutherford and the Colts in Indianapolis that would serve asreminders that not only were they good guys, they were pretty goodquarterbacks, too.Mostly, though, it would help that we would all remember thatsports, stripped down from all the attendant nonsense thatsometimes clutters it, is an irreplaceable part of the fabric thatmake us who we are. They exist, primarily, as an escape, as abuffer from the mean streets and the meaner world that surroundsus. Maybe we already knew that on Sept. 10, 2001, and just didn'twant to think about it. After that, we had no choice.During the '01 World Series, I shared an elevator ride with PhilRizzuto, and he was talking excitedly about how much he enjoyed theYankees games that month, more than ever, because the timesreminded him of 1941, his rookie year as a player, a year whenevery day brought an increasing tide of miserable news from everycorner of the world. Sports, then as now, had helped rescue thecountry from a nervous breakdown."You read the sports section a lot," Rizzuto told me, "becauseyou were afraid of what you'd see in the other parts of thepaper."If nothing else, I hope that's been the case for you these last10 years. And will continue to be for as long as we're all here towatch the games, and talk about them, and argue about them. A mostworthwhile debate.VAC'S WHACKS* Somewhere in Football America late Thursday night, I suspectthat Gentleman Jim Fassel chortled at that last play at the goalline Sean Payton sent in that decided the SaintsPackers game.* As we usher in the football season, may I recommend twoterrific football reads for you: first up, "Lombardi & Landry"by Ernie Palladino, which details their Giants years and beyond ofthe greatest coordinator combo in history. And also "Super BowlMonday" by Adam Lazarus, about Super Bowl XXV, a narrative worthyof that classic Bills-Giants game.* If Major League Baseball is going to go to such ridiculouslengths to play all 162 every year, then there should be a specialfund created by the commissioner's office - and paid for by ownerswho do everything to protect their precious gate - to kick in therequired money to put retractable domes on all new stadiums.* Red Barber once got fired for having the gall to tell his Ch.11 audience that there were 413 people at a Yankees-White Sox gamelate in the forgettable season of 1966. I suspect the ol' Redeadwould've had himself a lovely time describing Tuesday night's soggysilliness.WHACK BACK AT VACRichard Siegelman: The only worse pitcher than A.J. Burnett isthe kid who came to New York/New Jersey as part of the MetLifestadium deal - "Good ol' Charlie Brown."VAC: Let's just hope neither of the landlords of that stadiumare desperate enough to pick up C. Brown as a placekicker.Tom Retmanski: I think you should be paying more attention tolocal sporting events on TV rather than watching "Mad Men." DavidCone and Paul O'Neill were born to be in the broadcast booth? Haveyou really listened to these guys? I long for the old days whenthere were just two guys in the booth who didn't test your patiencewith non-stop chatter.VAC: Let's say we just keep Don Draper out of this, OK?Brendan Roberts: My old man, a curmudgeon in every sense of theword, always said, "I could have been worse. I could have raisedyou a Jets/Mets fan."VAC: My old man was a Giants/Yankees fan. I somehow grew up Jets/Mets. I truly believe sometimeshe wished I'd have rather run away and joined a cult.Joe Murray: Dodgers fans are refusing to go to games trying toforce Frank McCourt into selling. I watched the Padres gameWednesday afternoon, there were about 8,000 people in the parkcounting both teams. Mets fans should do the same. Watch on TV ifyou're a masochist.VAC: As depressing as an empty September ballpark is, thatreally is the only way fans can send a message.

NFL Football Betting is hugely popular amongst sports betting fans that are able to place their sport bets on both their favourite NFL team each week and on who will come out on top in Super Bowl betting. The New England Patriots will again dominate super Bowl XLIII betting odds this season as they look to make amends for stumbling at the last hurdle in their quest for the perfect season when upset by the New York Giants in Super Bowl 42.NFL Football Futures Betting gives you the opportunity to bet on your team early with many New York Giant fans winning big with their sports betting wagers on the Giants before the season kicked off.The NFL is made up of two conferences, the American Football League and the National Football League and football betting is available on each and every game of the NFL season including the preseason games and all playoff games. Some of the more popular NFL Futures bet props taken include betting on which NFL team will win their conference, which team will take out their division and which team will be crowned Super Bowl Champions.Did you know that 3 is the most important number when it comes to NFL Football betting lines? This is because teams can run down the clock to get a last second field goal to break a deadlock. The NFL Football betting is available on the following teams:AFC North - Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers AFC South - Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Houston OilersAFC West - Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego ChargersAFC East - Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York JetsNFC North - Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota VikingsNFC South - Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay BuccaneersNFC West - Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, St Louis RamsNFC East - Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins

If you're a big NFL fan and are constantly missing games due to work, school and traveling you will be happy to know there is a great solution and no longer any excuses to miss your teams game. I used to have to work during all my favourite NFL games so I would either go home and watch the highlight's or id tape the game but it was a huge pain and just was not the same thing as watching the game live.I set out looking on google search engine to how I could watch NFL games online and sure enough I found several programs and software that could do this for me but one stood out from the others because of it's 3000 channels and several sports shows from all over the world.I'm going to tell you that this software it not free it does cost $49 dollars but this is a one time fee there is no monthly payments you pay once and you have it for the rest of your life. This is a much cheaper solution to cable or satellite and will save you hundreds to thousands every year it has saved me a nice chunk of change in the last 6 months. This software that allows me to watch NFL games online can be downloaded in 2 minutes and you can be watching your favourite NFL teams play from anywhere you have computer access with you.I write this article cause I am tired of seeing scams and programs that just don't work take in people. When you work hard or go to school all day 5 days a week you deserve to be able to watch your favourite NFL teams play when you get off with a bag of chips and some cool drinks!.

The NFL has touched new scales in the American culture, from being one of the popular pastimes in the 1970's. In addition, betting on NFL games has been polishing the spectacle with an edge of thrill and excitement. The introduction of Monday Night Football as a pioneer to gain edge in the media, and the Super Bowl Sunday getting the consideration of an unofficial corporate holiday adds to all the reasons for betting on NFL games. Moreover, rarity of the NFL games, especially the Super Bowl Sunday and Monday Night Football makes betting on NFL games a lot more intriguing, as the NFL isn't an everyday show like baseball and basketball.NFL betting today stands as a legalized, multi million-dollar industry that runs in sportsbook casinos parlours and Internet sportsbook casino sites. So much so, as the game is amongst one of the most easily comprehendible sports, it attracts many sports investors and establishes a novice investor to join the fun!A football game perhaps doesn't attract much excitement unless it has some monetary value riding over it. Every score update not only adds to the exhilaration but also pools in some sum of extra income to the kitties. Also, to win a bet on the unders demands a 'no scoring' game, and it isn't a routine to sight someone cheering for a 'no score' game. It adds to it a nail-biting experience till the final second of the play. The oddsmaker begins a betting process by establishing the football betting odds and prepares a sportsbook card, which lists all the games and their respective spreads. This spread is actually a point differential between the two sides involved in the game, intending to differentiate the particular sides in concerns to their overall performances. A sports-betting investor has to simply place his bet on the side that he anticipates will fill up the same difference.Betting on NFL games is indeed an attractive approach amongst steady and casual sports-betting investors. Perhaps, these prolific sportsbook sites that put forward gambling opportunities on porting events will inevitably boost the betting standards.

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner and many people are already discussing cyber Monday and Black Friday sales and deals. Over the next several weeks a growing number of Americans will continue to wait and hope that many coupons are offered for savings when it comes to these busy shopping days. One of the companies that will likely offer a coupon and free shipping during cyber Monday is Eastbay. This athletic apparel provider has helped many people come up with some great Christmas gift ideas such as Air Jordans, LeBron James Nike shoes and popular NFL jerseys. Before spending any money on Christmas gift ideas in 2010 it is always a smart decision to see what deals and sales will be available during the busier shopping days. Even though we are just before Halloween it is already the case that many retailers have reported that they will offer steep discounts when it comes to Black Friday and cyber Monday. This comes as no surprise as the overall economy continues to struggle with an employment rate that is over 9%. Many American households are going to look to cut back on spending when it comes to Christmas gifts this year.Taking the time and effort to think of some very good Christmas gift ideas is very important to make your family happy during the Christmas holiday. Some very interesting Christmas gift ideas could include NFL jerseys. Some of the popular NFL jerseys that are currently being purchased by many people include:#9 Tony Romo - Dallas Cowboys#28 Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings#43 Troy Polamalu - Pittsburgh Steelers#28 Chris Johnson - Tennessee Titans#18 Peyton Manning - Indianapolis Colts#9 Drew Brees - New Orleans Saints#17 Philip Rivers - San Diego Chargers#4 Brett Favre - Minnesota Vikings#15 Tim Tebow - Denver Broncos#85 Chad Ochocinco - Cincinnati Bengals#7 Michael Vick - Philadelphia EaglesThis is a very short list when it comes to NFL players that have jerseys available at most retailers. Remember that some of these authentic jerseys can be quite expensive so it might be a good idea to consider research in other areas such as eBay or some of the discount retailers online. Taking the time and effort to better understand what jersey your son or daughter wants could prove to be very important when it comes to making that Christmas purchase in 2010. You want to make certain that they get the jersey of their favorite NFL player.

During the NFL preseason, unique conditions are in place; therefore, successful sports handicapping and investing requires different strategies than those used during any other time of the pro football season. Previously, we've revealed some preseason football handicapping tips involving coaching and team motivation. This week, we are going to look at QB ROTATIONS.One of our favorite NFL Preseason Handicapping strategies is to:Play AGAINST a team with rookie QBs that will see significant playing time, such as the 2nd half of a game, especially in Week 1.These young QBs are often late round picks and undrafted free agents, not the cream of the quarterbacking crop. Their unfamiliarity with the offensive scheme and speed of NFL defenders often give them trouble. Even great college QBs can get schooled in the preseason. We took advantage of such an opportunity with USC legend Matt Leinart. He was making his NFL debut with Arizona and facing the Patriots, who were favored by 3½ points. ItâEUR(TM)s rare that weâEUR(TM)ll play a team favored by more than a FG during the NFL preseason; however, this was too good to pass up, as we noted in our GAMEDAY INVESTMENT e-LERT write-up:âEURoeWhile Leinart may indeed have a long and productive career in the league, he figures to be in way over his head here. He's had little to practice with Arizona and has never even attended an NFL game. Making a rookie debut on the road against the Patriots, who love to confuse opposing QBs with various schemes and blitzes even in the preseason, is not a recipe for success. New England's defenders will be very motivated to give Leinart a rude welcome to professional football. This one got ugly early, as the Patriots pasted the Cardinals, 30-3, as we beat the spread by more than 3 TDs.A couple more preseason handicapping tips are to:Play ON a team with experienced back-up QBs that have prior experience with the team and will see significant playing time, such as the 2nd half of a game. - This will happen most frequently early in the preseason, especially Week 1. Due to their familiarity with the offensive scheme and speed of NFL defenders, these veteran QBs are much less likely to make critical mistakes.Play ON a team with a battle between 2 good, motivated QBs for the starting position, especially if the 1st-string offense will see extended playing time in order to have playing time with both QBs. - This can create a huge mismatch, where the 2nd QB and 1st-string offense is going up against an opponent's backups. The QB rotation was certainly a key factor in a PRO INFO SPORTS NFL GAMEDAY INVESTMENT e-LERT STAR SELECTION in which we took an underdog Panthers team over Jacksonville, noting:âEURoeAn inspired Minter and company will look to slow down the Jaguars QB who hit 4 TD passes of 50+ yards last week. While David Garrard was impressive, throwing two of the long TD passes, it was in the second half against tired Miami backups. Garrard will get a much tougher test Saturday night against the Panthers, whose first-team defense held Buffalo without a first down in four series last week. Garrard will face the first stringers because Leftwich will only play briefly due to a sore arm. It will also mean an earlier appearance for Jacksonville's #3 QB, as well. With a poor QB rotation against a stout defense, it's no wonder the Jaguars could manage only 10 points and lost by a TD to the Panthers for another PRO INFO SPORTS NFLX winning STAR SELECTION.Next time, In Part 4 of PRO INFO SPORTS NFL Preseason Football Handicapping Tips, we'll next take a look at GAMEPLANS.Dez Bryant Jersey Blue, Dez Bryant Jersey Black, Premier Jacoby Ford Jersey, Jacoby Ford Jersey White, Jacoby Ford Replica Jersey, Replica Ed Reed Jersey Black, Premier Ed Reed Jersey Black, Dez Bryant Jersey Replica, Jacoby Ford Jersey Replica, Official Dez Bryant Jersey, Premier Ed Reed Jersey White, Replica Ed Reed Jersey White, Authentic Ed Reed Jersey Black, Authentic Jacoby Ford Jersey, Reebok Jacoby Ford Jersey, Dez Bryant Authentic Jersey, Dez Bryant Jersey Premier, Jacoby Ford Jersey Premier, Dez Bryant Replica Jersey, Dez Bryant Premier Jersey, Jacoby Ford Jersey Authentic, Premier Dez Bryant Jersey, Jacoby Ford Premier Jersey, Replica Dez Bryant Jersey, Dez Bryant Jersey Authentic, Authentic Ed Reed Jersey White, Authentic Dez Bryant Jersey, Reebok Dez Bryant Jersey, Dez Bryant Jersey White, Dez Bryant Jersey Womens, Premier Ed Reed Jersey Purple, Jacoby Ford Jersey Black, NFL Jacoby Ford Jersey, NFL Dez Bryant Jersey, Replica Jacoby Ford Jersey, Authentic Ed Reed Jersey Purple, Replica Ed Reed Jersey Purple, Jacoby Ford Authentic Jersey

Author: Shannon O'TooleISBN: 0803286252Good day Shannon and thanks for agreeing to participate in our interview.Thank you for the invitation!Norm:Shannon, please tell our readers a little bit about your personal and professional background.Shannon:I received my master's degree in sociology at Western Michigan University. My master's thesis was entitled "Professional Football Players' Attitudes Relating Toward Women and Violence." When I was 19 years old and playing softball at Western Michigan University I met John Morton. For the past 14 years, John has been involved with professional football. He played for 5 years and now he is a coach. (In February 2006, he signed a 2-year contract with the New Orleans Saints as their "Passing Game Assistant"). My academic background combined with my personal experience made me very interested in the topic of NFL Women.Norm:How did your Masters degree in sociology help you with your research and in the writing of your book?Shannon:It helped immensely. It is an excellent discipline for examining social issues and dynamics. In the book I delve into sexism and racism in context to professional football. Sociology has opened my eyes to societal inequities and injustice and it has molded me into the woman I am today.Norm:What is the underlying message or theme of Wedded to the Game: The Real Lives of NFL Women?Shannon:The message is clear: these women are not the stereotypical shallow, gold-digging, Barbie dolls. They are sharp, strong-willed and opinionated. They are multi-tasking, talented women who take on and conquer the challenges that NFL life throws at them. In fact, they are tough, if not tougher than the men who play and coach the game. The percentage of women who fit the negative stereotype is probably less than ten percent - and these types of women never last for long. Those who learn to cope with the NFL's immense difficulties become stubborn, resilient and wise survivors.Norm:Do you believe that the sampling of interviews was sufficient to come to some of your conclusions?Shannon:I do, mainly because I was very careful to select women whose experiences ran the gamut of NFL life. While I spoke with Jackie Rice who is married to All-Everything Jerry Rice, I also interviewed the girlfriend of a rookie free agent who was simply hoping her boyfriend would be on the roster so they would have health insurance at the time of their baby's birth. Ultimately, I knew there was an adequate sample when I began to hear the same answers to my numerous questions. We really are a sisterhood with shared experiences unique to professional sports life.Norm:Why did you feel compelled to write this book?Shannon:To quote the preface:When I began my research for this book I had an ulterior motive. Although I have been in the NFL for twelve years now and I know very well what this life is like, I was also seeking the advice and hard-earned wisdom of women who had already found solutions to my numerous concerns. I still struggle with the life I've chosen, and so I wanted to know: How do other women deal with the NFL? How do they cope and survive? What are their experiences?I knew these women did not fit the stereotype. I wanted other people to know it too.Norm:Can you explain some of your research techniques, and how you found sources for your book? I notice there is an absence at the end of the book of a selected bibliography. Any reason for this omission?Shannon:To quote the preface:I sent an anonymous survey to over 150 women and got back an amazing 75 responses. Out of those 75 responses, I chose 30 women to interview in depth. Their stores make up the heart of this book. About half were willing to go on record and let their names be used, and about half wanted to remain anonymous. In the initial anonymous survey, I asked respondents to either "agree strongly, agree mildly, disagree mildly, or disagree strongly" to a myriad of statements regarding NFL life. These responses form the basis of some of my general statements and conclusions about what off-the-field life is like for women. Then, over the course of my thirty one-on-one interviews, I received full, in-depth answers to these often difficult, complex questions.Regarding the absence of a bibliography, the current literature on professional sports spouses is minimal. Most of the published works are salacious, racy novels that simply serve to perpetuate the unfair stereotypes. My book is the only book on the market (that I am aware of) that is part insiders tell-all and part sociological study.Norm:What obstacles did you have in writing and researching your book?Shannon:There were very few obstacles during the research process. I was surprised by the willingness and the eagerness of the women willing to speak about their experiences. They wanted to talk, not just about the good times, but about some of their most dreadful and unbearable experiences. NFL Women are almost universally overlooked by the public and the media, and what I discovered is that they have things to say and they want to be heard. My difficulties arose during the writing process. Before I began this book I was completely naïve regarding the art of writing. I had NO IDEA how difficult a task it is to write well. Writing well is a true skill and I did not have the needed training. I lost count of the number of major revisions. But I did have a goal to see my name on a book cover, and I was completely and thoroughly determined to reach that goal. (I also have a coach for a husband and he knew all the right motivational buttons to push!) Like millions of writers, my proposal was rejected again and again before it finally found a home at the University of Nebraska Press. And even then, I needed the skill of a fantastic outside developmental editor, Jeff Campbell in San Francisco. I am forever in his debt for the beautiful things he did with my manuscript. It took me 5 years from start of research to the final finished product. That is a long time. But the feeling of self-fulfillment that I have right now, makes every day of those 5 years well worth it.Norm:How has the feedback been so far? What are your hopes for this book?Shannon:From both within and outside of the football world, the favorable feedback has been tremendous. Andrew Yardley of the Washington Post called Wedded to the Game an "intelligent, thoughtful book." Feedback from NFL Women includes phrases like, "great insight as to what life is really like for us" and "invaluable information for rookie wives/girlfriends." The central theme, according to a woman married to a player, "It was comforting to know that while the stories may vary many of our experiences are the same."Even women who are not fans of the game can relate to many of the book's issues, such as frequent relocation or dealing with a partner's long hours - both common occurrences in today's American work culture.Currently, I am speaking with two television producers who are interested in the topic of NFL Wives. Check my website for updates on these projects.Of course, I hope this book continues to grow in popularity and one day reaches the Best Seller List . . . with Oprah's help. (smile)Norm:What is next for Shannon O'Toole is there anything else you wish to add that we have not covered?Shannon:It is my dream to implement and facilitate an NFL Women Mentoring Program. The mission of this program is to lessen the strain and uncertainty, and thereby increase the life satisfaction of women new to the league by formally connecting them with experienced veteran wives/significant others. In these relationships, veteran NFL Women offer advice, answer questions, and guide their mentees in developing skills and methods for copy with the myriad of circumstances unique to NFL life. I am currently speaking with the league office along with the NFLPA about offering this program on a league-wide basis. In the immediate future, John and I look forward to helping the people and the animals affected by Hurricane Katrina. "Recover, Rebuild, Rebirth" and GO SAINTS!*Note: Hurricane Katrina dogs and cats continue to need loving homes. While the Jets were busy flexing for the HBO cameras on Hard Knocks, the Ravens made offseason acquisitions that have the experts talking "Superbowl". But with Darrelle Revis back on his island, Rex Ryan will love nothing more than to open the season with a win over his former team on Monday Night Football.Ravens on OffenseThe offseason signings of Anquan Boldin, Dante Stallworth, and most recently acquired T.J. Houshmanzadeh, will make the Ravens a more balanced team. These guys add depth and veteran leadership to Joe Flacco's receiving corps, and all 3 will help him build on his confidence of making the playoffs in his first 2 seasons. Now that Revis is all-in for Monday night, the Jets might use him to shut down a guy like Anquan Boldin. This leaves Antonio Cromartie and the rest of the secondary a lot of room to work with, whether it's blitzing Flacco and/or helping Revis in coverage (even the "Messiah" could be a tad rusty after a 36-day holdout). This is where Baltimore's bread-n-butter comes in: not Maryland crab cakes... New Rochelle's very own, Ray Rice. With over 2,000 yards from scrimmage in his sophomore season, Rice proved to Coach John Harbaugh that his 5'8'' 212-lb frame could carry the bulk of the offense. Not only is he a handful because of his quickness and elusiveness, but his receiving skills are a threat to any defense, including the Jets.Flacco will look for Rice to bail him out of tough situations on Monday night, and it'll be up to the Jets' linebackers to stop big gains from happening. OLB Calvin Pace's absence doesn't help New York's cause.Jets on OffenseWith Baltimore's secondary somewhat slim (i.e. Ed Reed out 6 weeks), expect the Jets to throw slightly more than usual. Mark Sanchez is earning the coaching staff's trust (despite the tasteless pranks), and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will want to catch the Ravens off-guard every now and again. Santonio Holmes will be out of commission, but Braylon Edwards has some big-play ability if he keeps his drops to a minimum. Maybe he can motivate himself by vowing to shave his beard if he reaches the end zone. In all seriousness though, New York's success is dictated by their offensive line. It starts with C Nick Mangold, whose chemistry with Mark Sanchez can lead to far less miscues, sacks, fumbles etc. The Ravens will test the Jets with their defensive schemes, and it'll be up to Mangold to bring Sanchez up to cue before the snap. The O-line's presence will be felt in the running game as well. It looks like Shonn Greene will grind it out for the majority of the carries, but LT's presence will be crucial during 3rd down and red zone situations. This backfield faces a huge challenge on opening night against the Ravens, whose rush defense is as tough as they come. The New Meadowlands Stadium is a place you'll want to be at come Monday night. Both teams have the defense and rushing attack to mix it up with the best of them, but it'll ultimately come down to Baltimore making a few more game-breaking plays via Flacco.PredictionBaltimore The first weeks games provided some questionable, some scary, some predictable moments, and a couple of disappointments.I'm going to start with the most the questionable. Detroit's Calvin Johnson apparent winning touchdown pass that was ruled an incomplete pass, which according to the rules, that was the right call. I don't know about the the specific rule since, I don't have a copy of the rule book, and honestly don't want one. But what I do know that if that catch is made anywhere else on field, Johnson had two feet down, a knee down, with the control of the football and he was touched by the defensive player. That is catch. Pure and simple. Everyone, players, coaches, refs, fans, media, the family dog knows this. Evidently according to the "rule book", a player must not only have control the ball, he must have the ball in his hands when he gets up,(Johnson used the ball to prop himself up, then he lost it) runs to celebrate with his teammates, sits on the bench, with control of the football, and then and only then, is this a touchdown. I've never heard about this until Sunday. This is a terrible rule and needs to changed, like now. Detroit got shanked. Chicago got the biggest gift since New England received the benefit of the Brady "Tuck Rule" against Oakland in the playoffs following 2001 season. I doubt this effects whether Detroit or Chicago makes the playoffs, since both are basically bottom feeders. The scariest moment occurred during the Green Bay, Philadelphia game, when Eagle middle linebacker Stewart Brady made a tackle, got up, and just fell to the ground, he was knocked out. The Eagle staff took him to the sidelines, sat him on the bench. I and sure most people could you see the dazed look in his eyes and stars floating around him. He should have been taken to locker room and not played for the rest of the game, which is the standard procedure because of the league is very aware of the danger of concessions. The medical staff of the Eagles apparently do not know this because a few plays later he was back in the game. I did not see what they asked him but it probably went like this,"How are you feeling?" "I don't know. "Ok, get back in the game". I'm glad they finally sat him and the quarterback, Kolb for the second half, who also had a concession, but the league should look into this matter, because both situations could have become life threatening. Now the predictable moments. I'm not surprised Houston beat Indianapolis, they have been pointing to this game since the schedule came out, and the Colts are probably still suffering a Super Bowl hang over. Lets see if the Texans can build on this. The Colts are an experience bunch and should rebound from this loss. Washington beating Dallas is no surprise to me because the Redskins always play Dallas tough, even when they stink, and Dallas looked like they did the entire preseason, listless and mistake prone on offense, way too many penalties. Their defense looked great, so not to worry Cowboy fans, they will be fine. Michael Vic playing well, I've been hearing that he has his legs back, and obviously he has. He looked like the Vic from the Atlanta days. Kolb looked shaky, before he got concession. He should be out a few games to clear his and head and he probably won't get his job back. Oakland getting smoked by Tennessee. New quarterback, same old sorry Raiders. They looked awful, even by their standards. Can't blame this loss on Jamarcus Russell. Chris Johnson, best back in the league by far and Vince Young, does nothing great except wins games. Colts better watch out, they got some major competition this year. The potty mouthed Jets losing to Baltimore. Baltimore's defense shut down the Jets because their offense is so predictable, run, run then short pass. If Rex does not all allow Sanchez to throw the ball down the field, they're going to be nothing but a five hundred team no matter how good their defense is. Baltimore offense is much more explosive and diverse, they should of scored more points. The most disappointing. San Francisco. They got blown out by a team with a new coach, with almost all new players. The 49ers were the trendy pick to win the division, including mine, but they looked terrible. Singletary looked pissed off. If I was a player, I would not say a word on the flight back, or he might make you make sit on the wing. Cincinnati. Now I know first game in New England is tough, but they didn't even show up. Their defense which was great last year got pushed up and down the field. The Patriots could have scored 50 if they wanted too. The Bengal offense put up numbers, but most of it was garbage yards and touchdowns when the game was out of hand. Finally San Diego losing to Kansas City. They Chargers looked flat and out of sorts. They should know every game against the Cheifs is going to be a dog fight. The new Arrowhead was rocking last night. The loudest and the best fans in the league. The good thing for all teams and their fans is that this is just week one, and as far as I know, no one is eliminated from the playoffs, except Cleveland, (at least you have LeBron, Opps. Sorry, no you don't.) There are plenty of games to play.

NFC Top 5-----------1. Chicago (1) - Despite their weakest showing of the season on Monday Night, the Bears found a way, so you have to keep them at the top spot in the NFC. They now have a week to rest and get over the near loss to Arizona, and follow it up with what should be easy games at home vs the 49′ers and Dolphins before they head out for three straight on the road. Those road games will really give us an indication of just where this team will be come January.2. Seattle (3) - The Hawks proved that they are not to be overlooked with Sunday's gutsy 30-28 win over the Rams in St.Louis. The bad news is they will for at least the next two weeks still be without their MVP In Shaun Alexander. This week at home vs the Vikings will not be an easy test, as the Vikings have been competitive this season.3. New Orleans (-) - Despite many experts thinking that the feel good story of the Saints would simply go away, all they have done is keep winning. Sunday's win over the Eagles is another step in the right direction for New Orleans, and with the diverse offense of Deuce, Reggie and Drew Brees, there is no doubt that the Saints will have to be dealt with down the road.4. Carolina (-) - There is no doubt that Steve Smith is the ultimate difference maker for the Panthers. His presence on the field makes the Panthers a team that looks better than last years team that reached the NFC title game. With four straight wins, including wins at Tampa and Baltimore, the Panthers seem to be reaching the form many thought they would before the season started.5. Philadelphia (2) - A bit of a letdown Sunday in losing to the Saints at the SuperDome, but this is still a very good team that has a shot to win 10-11 games. The NFC East is rounding into form and future games vs the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins will clearly determine where the Eagles end up. For now, a road game at Tampa Bay vs a team coming off a big win vs Cincinnati looms.NFC Bottom 3-------------1. Arizona (-) - Hard to believe that this was a team thinking playoffs when the season started. Back to back home losses after leading both games by double digits has earned them this spot. On a bright note, looks like they have their QB of the future in Matt Leinart, and looks like he is going to end up being a steal in the draft when its all said and done. Now they just need to get the running game going.2. San Francisco (3) - The 49′ers hung in early, but eventually were beaten up by a superior Chargers team, allowing 48 points in getting blownout. Mike Nolan said Monday there would be changes after the team comes back from the bye. How about picking a defense instead of going back and forth between the 4-3, 3-4, and 4-4 as a start?3. Detroit (1) - The Lions got a home win on Sunday to break their five-game losing streak and get the monkey off their backs. Detroit's offense continues to put up points, and lo and behold they finally got some defense as they held the Bills in the 4th quarter to secure the win. They still need more production out of their running game, averaging just 71 per contest.AFC Top 5-----------1. Indianapolis (1) - The Colts got a week to get some things worked on as they have had two scares in a row. At 5-0 with a bulls eye on their backs, things will not get easier over the next few weeks as they host an up-and-down Redskins team, followed by back to back road games at Denver and New England. The defense is still allowing way too many yards on the ground at 111 per game.2. Denver (2) - The Broncos don't score much, but when your defense has only allowed 7 points per game, you don't need to put up 20 points per game. The concern is the offense, and what will happen if they fall behind or get in a shootout. A pair of games with the Chargers in weeks 11 and 14 could very well determine their season. The Colts and Steelers also loom on their schedule in the next three weeks.3. San Diego (4) - The Chargers and Broncos are on a collision course for the AFC West title, and with the way that Philip Rivers is playing, it's hard to bet against them. They are putting up 30 points per game, and Rivers has led the offense with solid play from a first-year QB. Their schedule is somewhat soft in the second half of the season, making them the favorites to take home the AFC West.4. New England (3) - Rumors of a trade for Randy Moss would only make the Pats that much more dangerous. If not, they still have a solid offense that can run and put up points. They have rebounded nicely after the week three loss to the Broncos, and are putting up 139 yards per game on the ground to take the pressure off of Tom Brady. Two straight on the road coming up at Buffalo and Monday night the 30th at Minnesota.5. Jacksonville (-) - By default since the AFC North does not deserve a spot this week, I'll give the Jags the nod as the 5th best team in the conference. Coming off a bye and before that a big 41-0 home shutout of the Jets, the Jags look again like a solid pick for at least a wild card in the AFC. They as well have back to back road games looming at Houston and then a big matchup in Philly.AFC Bottom 3---------------1. Oakland (1) - Easily the worst team in the league, the Raiders are simply bad, and should consider making some deals before the deadline. They had their shots Sunday night vs Denver, but had two costly turnovers and 13 penalties for 95 yards. Two more shots for wins this year, and one comes this week vs the Cardinals at home.2. Miami (2) - The Dolphins just cannot seem to get things going this season, and Sunday fell behind the Jets before a late comeback fell short. Joey Harrington is simply not very good, and Sunday went 27-for-43 for 266 and two picks with one TD. Sitting Daunte Culpepper though is the right decision for now, as this teams hopes of a successful 2006 are down the drain.3. Cleveland (-) - Sorry Browns fans, but the Titans road win at Washington was more impressive than yours two weeks ago vs the Raiders, thus earning you this spot. The defense is banged up and a mess, allowing 143 yards rushing per game, and 335 overall. Whoever thought Maurice Carthon was going to be a good offensive coordinator ought to have his head examined. Two home games vs the Broncos and Jets loom for the 1-4 Browns.---

&nb sp; Watch NBA TV, NFL, MLB, WWE Live Sports Online
I had personally become used to missing a lot of my favorite shows and sports while traveling. I downloaded one of these softwares into my laptop and have since managed to watch last years football games on ESPN.There are many other sports channels online including Euro-sports, Sky sports and some rare and extreme sports around the world. Also featuring are discovery channels and hunting online shows. Online Television, as the name suggests, is broadcast over the internet to a global audience. Anyone can be able to watch the stations from the internet from any location and in over 70 different regions. The software I use to mainly watch the league games is from a company called the satellite TV to PC. They have software that has 3000 online channels including some 1000 online radio stations. The channels are from over 50 countries with a large number of them in English from North America and Europe. In addition I have found they have stations in very many languages including Arabic, French, German, Italian, Norse, Dutch, Spanish, Russian and more.I want to warn you that there are many online PC softwares that are scam on the internet. Most don't deliver good quality pictures while others just don't show much.I also want to tell you that there are a few high quality software that are also sold at low prices. For example, the software from the Satellite to PC company that I use ' PC 2007 Elite Edition' , is one of the most downloaded on the net.The company has a small start up cost of $49 for a lifetime membership. It's basically the only fee that you get to pay as compared to the monthly fees of satellite dish and cable. Some of the main advantages of downloading this software to your computer PC or laptop, is that it gives you mobility with your entertainment. I have on many occasions used my laptop in a hotel room in Europe while traveling for work. All that I required was a high speed wireless connection and I could watch home television from the comfort of my bed.I had some problems connecting to the TV stations when I bought the software but I was quickly sorted out by the very helpful people at the sales desk. I have not so far had any problems. I have also managed to cut down my monthly satellite TV fees by over $500 a year.

&nb sp; NFL 2006: Miami Dolphins
Nick Saban begins year number two with fresh faces and a new offensive coordinator in Mike Mularkey. The former Bills coach takes over for the departed Scott Linehan, the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Optimism reigns supreme in Miami as Saban turned a 3-13 team the year before into a 9-7 one last season. With a veteran cast returning, along with key free agent pickups, many feel the Dolphins are legitimate playoff contenders in 2006.Offense: The biggest acquisition of the off season was grabbing Daunte Culpepper from the Minnesota Vikings. Gone is Gus Frerotte, who did a respectable job as the starter last season and in comes Culpepper. There's no question when he's healthy, Culpepper is one of the best in the game. But a devastating knee injury, where he suffered damage to three ligaments, may keep him off the field on opening day.To correct that problem the Dolphins made a trade for Joey Harrington (2,021 yards, 12 touchdowns), who wore out his welcome in Detroit. The former number two overall selection hasn't lived up to his draft status, but could be reborn with Saban in Miami. Either way, he'll be an adequate backup and an upgrade over Sage Rosenfels.Ricky Williams was suspended again so he took his papers and bong to Canada for a year. No matter, second year man Ronnie Brown will be handed the reigns of the feature back role and should do well. The Auburn standout rushed for 907 yards and four scores splitting time with Ricky last season. Travis Minor will be his principle backup. Fred Beasley didn't leave his heart in San Francisco and will help Brown immensely at fullback. Beasley has decent hands and is a solid blocker. The Dolphins have two good starters, but not much depth after that at the wide receiver position. Chris Chambers (82-1,118-11) had a breakout year last season and Marty Booker is a solid number two guy. Behind them rookies Derek Hagan and Devin Aromashodu will be asked to play key roles.Randy McMichael is one of the best receiving tight ends in the game and proved it again last season with 60 receptions and five TDs. Justin Peele was brought in from San Diego to be a blocker in running situations. There is plenty of competition on the offensive line and it's here where the most spirited battles will take place. Rex Hadnot is the incumbent center, but Seth McKinney returns from injury and will challenge. Free agent signee Bennie Anderson (Bills) will team with returner Jeno James at guard, but McKinney could land here as well. Vernon Carey and Damion McIntosh return at tackle but free agents L.J. Shelton (Browns) and Mike Pearson (Jaguars) are in the mix as well.Defense: This is an aging defense even with Junior Seau gone, particularly on the line. Ageless wonder Jason Taylor (12 sacks) and Kevin Carter (six sacks) return at defensive end, but look out for high energy Matt Roth to get even more playing time in 2006. Vonnie Holliday (five sacks) and Keith Traylor man the tackle spots with Jeff Zgonina providing adequate backup. Manuel Wright and rookie Rodrique Wright provide youthful legs.Zach Thomas continues to defy father time and looks to put up another outstanding season on the boards. Thomas led the team with 166 tackles from his middle linebacker slot and shows no signs of slowing down. On the outside, emerging star Channing Crowder (90 tackles) could have a break out year and Donnie Spragan is solid if not spectacular. Eddie Moore is a quality backup. The secondary is in a state of flux after a turbulent off season. Gone are safety Lance Shulters and corners Sam Madison and Reggie Howard. Travis Daniels will man one corner spot while free agent signees Will Allen (Giants), Renaldo Hill (Raiders) and Andre Goodman (Lions) will compete for the other. Tavaris Tillman returns at strong safety, while Yeremiah Bell and number one draft pick, Jason Allen, will battle for the free safety spot.Special Teams: Olindo Mare had another great season, scoring 108 points on 25-30 field goals and 33-33 on extra points. You can't find many better or more consistent then him. Donnie Jones looks to improve on his solid 43.5 yards per punt last season and Wes Welker is an exciting return man (22.6 KR; 9.1 PR).Outlook: Nick Saban is one of the best young coaches in the business and he'll have the Dolphins fighting for a playoff spot. The Culpepper injury situation, coupled with an aging defense and instability in the secondary will keep them from catching New England in the division.Prediction: Saban has picked Miami out of the cellar and restored confidence in the fans, the city and the team. The Dolphins are still a couple of pieces away from being a serious contender, but a wild card berth is not out of the question in 2006. Miami finishes 9-7 or 10-6.

The Green Bay Packers had a very disappointing season in 08' with a 6-10 record. In 07' the Packers finished 13-3 and were a couple minutes away from playing in the Super Bowl. Packers fans want to believe that Aaron Rogers will take their team to the Super Bowl shortly. Brett Favre is an icon in Green Bay despite how his departure ended there. Aaron Rogers must show he is capable in taking the Packers to the Super Bowl, but he can't do it alone. The Packers have a very good team overall, an every down running back with Ryan Grant, a veteran WR in Donald Driver (who caught many passes from Favre), and a stellar defense that will improve over the course of the 09' season. With the exception of the Detroit Lions, the Packers will have to play their best if they expect to beat the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, who are just as good as the Packers. The Packers have as good as a chance as any team to contend in the NFC in 09' - there are no dominant teams in this league and a team that gets on a hot streak can run the table. If the Packers think they can contend they must beat the Tampa Bays Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Browns of the league. The good teams must beat the bad teams in the league in order to keep pace with the other good teams in their division - Packers must not play down to their lesser opponents. If Aaron Rogers is truly the heir apparent to Brett Favre he has a monumental task in front of him. While he can never be as great as Favre was, he can be Aaron Rogers and play to his abilities and strengths - however far that takes Green Bay remains a mystery so far.

&nb sp; Detroit Lions Show Steady Improvement in 2009 NFL Season
The Detroit Lions have no expectation for the 09' season really -- just don't go 0-16 and that will be good enough it seems. The Lions already improved in 09' winning in week 3 against the Washington Redskins 14-19 -- the teams first win since 07' against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 16. The Lions celebrated their first victory in years by high five-ing the fans in the crowd. The Detroit Lions have a uphill climb in every sense of the word. The Lions are basically starting from scratch and at 0-16, the entire roster besides Calvin Johnson needed an overhaul. The most important position in football is the quarterback, the Lions are hoping QB Matthew Stafford will help the Lions reach a 8-8 or 7-9 record -- which by Lions standards that would be a great season. The offense of the Lions ranks in the middle of the leagues teams, the defense is among the lower half in all major categories. The division the Lions play in, The NFC North, doesn't do them any good -- the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are all improved from last season. The Lions offense must not give away games and hand the opposing teams many turnovers. Rookie QB's turn the ball over often throwing interceptions, Matthew Stafford must stay calm and make smart decisions, easier said the done obviously. Hopefully in 09' the Lions can reach the .500 mark and maybe make the playoffs one year. If any city deserves a winning football team for once its Detroit, they have been beyond patient with their team.Matthew Stafford can be the only one carrying the team, Calvin Johnson must play like one of the best wide receivers in the game and help make Stafford look good. The Detroit Lions might not win many games but better days surely lay ahead.

&nb sp; Are the St Louis Rams the Worst NFL Team?
The "greatest show on turf" of the St. Louis Rams achieved earlier in the decade has long been gone as of 2009. The Rams franchise has fallen off the map badly since the glory days of Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk. The Rams hit rock bottom in 08' with a record of 2-14 -- worse then the 07' season when they went 3-13. The last winning season for the Rams was in 03', they went 12-4 winning the NFC West division. If it wasn't for the Detroit Lions, Oakland raiders and Kansas City Chiefs, the Rams would be the worst franchise of the last 5 years. The 09' season for the Rams won't be much better, if they get 4 wins that would be considered a successful season. QB Marc Bulger and Kyle Boller are nearly identical when it comes to their stats -- which means it doesn't really matter which is in the game because the chance of the Rams winning doesn't improve. Marc Bulger has a few good seasons with the Rams - in 06' Bulger threw for over 4,000 yards and 24 touchdown passes with only 8 interceptions. The last two seasons for Bulger have been less then stellar with more interceptions then touchdown passes. The only player the Rams have worth the price of a ticket is RB Steven Jackson. Jackson is averaging nearly 5 yards per rushing attempt in 09'. Jackson's best season up to this date was in 06' when he rushed for over 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns. It's safe to say the Rams will get a high draft pick in the 10' draft. One could only wonder where the Rams should begin in rebuilding. Perhaps a young quarterback to build the franchise around. Steven Jackson isn't get any younger and it's a shame his career is being wasted on a very bad team.

&nb sp; NFL Draft Spotlight by Team - #2 Pick by the Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions look to build off of their 2-14 record of the '09 season (it's better than 0-16!) and try to get out of the cellar of the NFC North. The Lions took their franchise QB with Matt Stafford last year, and they need to slowly rebuild to keep up with Green Bay's young stars. They try to mix a strong draft with acquiring good free agents to turn over their team quicker. This year they've got Kyle Vanden Bosh and Nate Burleson as their big free agent acquisitions. The team overpaid for Burleson, but if he can provide a good second option to Calvin Johnson, he will be worth it. Kyle Vanden Bosh was a good pickup if he can bring his relentless pursuit of the QB and playing to the whistle. He can be a good locker room guy for the Lions, who could use a few more of those. The Lions picked up linebackers last year, but this year in the draft, they need a defensive line. This year, expect the Lions to pick Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska with the #2 pick. Minnesota won the division, and so teams in the NFC North will need to find a way to stop Adrian Peterson. It starts with the D-Line, and Detroit will have their pick of Suh or Gerald McCoy from OU. In the end, expect the team to go with Suh. He was the more highly touted player throughout the year, even a Heisman finalist, which will give him an extra push over McCoy in the draft.
